Marty's Struggle

Sunday Night

Greetings to all from 6610 St. V’s in Indy!

Today has been a beautiful day in Indy. The sun has been shining, it has been bright out, the temperature has been really nice, the humidity has been low, and it has just been a beautiful day. Praise the Lord! Besides all that Bonnie and Glenn R. were here for a visit and I just got a call from Father Frank and he is in Indy and is going to stop by to see Marty. Praise the Lord! We certainly appreciate all the support, etc. that we receive from so many. Thank you!

This morning I was able to get permission to take Marty off the floor and so I took her downstairs and brought Buddy over to see her. They had a great time together. Buddy was so happy to see her and to sit on her lap. He just hopped right up there and laid down and thought he was at home. It was awesome, praise the Lord.

Marty has had a good day. She has taken 3 walks so far and is going to take one more yet tonight. She has had three good meals today and eaten all that was in sight and was able to have fresh fruit and vegetables again. Praise the Lord! However, because of the Methylprednisolone she is on her blood sugar is just sky high yet today. Hopefully, it will be down soon and she will not have to have the insulin. They are weaning her off it each day. Her lungs are still having problems. She is on continuous oxygen and receiving respiratory treatments every 8 hours. She has also been on a new antibiotic called Zosyn since Friday morning when Dr. Lee saw her. Hopefully there will be more improvement by tomorrow.

As far as the AML and her blood, the WBC went up today and the blasts did too. So, that situation is not under control and/or in remission. However, at present that is kind of secondary to the lungs. We will be happy to get the result of the biopsy on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Marty’s spirits are good, and her voice is getting better. Praise the Lord!

One of the chaplain interns was in a little while ago and we had a real enjoyable talk. One of the things we were talking about was why do I have the nick name of “trouble” down here. Just this evening I was coming down the hall to Marty’s room and one of the nurses called me “Trouble.” And then we were talking about my sense of humor and the fact that “laughter” is so good for us. And she was saying that it would be good if more people could laugh when they are sick. So often we get so stressed, when we are sick and at other times, that we don’t laugh and we loose one of the tools God has given us to use even to His glory. I have a picture in my office of Jesus when He is laughing. Now I know this is not a real picture, but rather a drawing that someone has made into a picture. But that is not the point. The point is that God has given us the gift of laughter and we need to use it. You know how we say that a smile is the most contagious thing in the world. Well I believe that laughter scores up there pretty high as well. How does that song go, when you laugh the whole world laughs with you? How true, how true, when you laugh most often you can get someone else to laugh as well.

I am so glad that my nick name down here it “Trouble” because I make people laugh. Thank you Lord! Praise the Lord! May we glorify the Lord as we bring His grace, love, and laughter to them.

Have a positive day and God bless.

Glad to hear Marty had a better day. I'm sure just being out of the room and seeing Buddy was a treat. We cont. to watch your progress and pray for you often. We are praying for Mr. Trouble as well. Love in Christ, Donna D.
